PROFESSIONAL BIO
I am pursuing my Master's degree in Transpersonal
Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Art Therapy at Naropa University.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Art from Luther College in
Decorah, Iowa. The heart of my
theoretical framework is transpersonal, meaning that I believe that each
individual has an organic desire to make greater sense of her or his experience
while also cultivating the freedom, passion, and creativity to transform it. As
we bring conscious awareness to our unconscious processes through art-based
explorations, just like unraveling a ball of yarn, we gradually untangle the
knots that inhibit our access to greater emotional strength and freedom.
I have
experience working with adults and adolescents with severe emotional,
behavioral, and developmental disabilities. My art and mindfulness practices
continually inform my work as an art psychotherapist and contribute to my
belief in each person’s innate capability not only to survive, but to thrive. I believe that the creative process is something everyone has access to and I look forward to hearing from you about how creativity and art-making can inspire and inform your life.
